Damsel is thrilled to announce that the theme for 2022 is…
✨BODY✨
This year, Damsel wants to hear from you, from every, well, body!
✨ We are looking for written and visual pieces that explore the ways that bodily experiences manifest within art.
✨ We want works that challenge body as an idea: the embodiment of language, of gender, of sexuality, of race, of all that it is and isn’t to have a body.
✨ Together, we want to explore how bodies are acknowledged and ignored by society, how we ourselves recognise and neglect our own bodies.
And in light of more recent events, we want to offer a space to consider how we, as women and nonbinary people, respond to the ways that our bodies move through society. How can we employ words and art to hold our bodies momentarily, within a creative space?
There are as many ways to interpret this theme as there are bodily experiences - for inspiration see our prompts page!
